Resort Owner Increases Bookings After Fast Funding for Upgrades

Nov 7, 2018

Nestled on the South Fork on the Spring River in the Ozarks, outfitter Southfork Resort offers camping, whitewater rafting, canoeing and cabins for visitors looking to get away. New owner Jennifer Duer took over ownership of the property back in July of 2017 after the previous owners could no longer keep up with the maintenance upkeep.

After twenty years of neglect, the equipment and property were in major need of upgrades. To remarket the resort and draw a bigger customer base for the next season, Jennifer wanted to invest in a much-needed facelift. After replacing appliances in the cabins, she found herself going over her budget, yet still needed to purchase new rafts, kayaks and repair the roof on the main money maker for the resort: the pavilion.

Everything I had budgeted for previously had already been used, and I thought: What do we do now?

“We have a lot of people who come here wanting a place to accommodate large gatherings like weddings, church groups, and reunions. We had nothing to offer other than the open campground area on the river with the pavilion being in bad shape as it was. Being able to repair it opened the door for more opportunities to get big groups in to rent out the space for events.”

The pavilion was one of the biggest draws for customers. Repairing it meant a boost in sales, setting the resort up for success this coming season and beyond.

Challenges When Investing in Future ROI

Cost of Repairs/Upgrades: When you know an investment in upgrades can increase your ROI, access to fast capital to make it happen is like having the ultimate buying power to do what you need.
Budget Changes: With any renovation project, unexpected costs come up and may set you over budget. Our clients lean on us to bridge the gap, so they focus on improving their business, not coming up with money.
Preparing for next season: Prepare however you need to for a successful, busy season. We don’t tell you how to spend your capital; it’s your business, you know the best places to invest it.

There were no surprises. It feels more personal that I have someone dealing directly with my account and any problems, concerns or questions were answered.

Why Reliant Funding

After receiving the funding, Jennifer continued to remodel the cabins and replaced the damaged roof on the pavilion. She expects to double her revenue next season solely because of the improvements to the property and offerings.

I think the experience overall has been good. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to let us do the things we needed to do.

Jennifer knew an investment in a facelift would bring her the opportunity for more revenue. She found herself in a situation where she went over her budget and unable to continue with her renovations. Instead of halting the project, she leveraged the fast and flexible funding option from Reliant to finish and see ROI right away. After the upgrades, she was able to immediately accommodate more customers and revive her biggest moneymaker: the pavilion.
